Description

Gary Sheath named this black-stoned owl “Big Barney”.   The face of this owl makes it most distinct.  Both the eyes and mouth are unique amongst Inuit faces – more like some shaman and transformation faces.  The owl’s beak is formed for hooting.  The heart-shaped face also adds to this sculpture’s aesthetic value.    This Arctic-stone sculpture is almost 35 years old.  Lovely feather detail and magenta highlights. Condition consistent with age - chip in head.
