Description
This statuesque carving of an African mother and child is a sculptural masterpiece in many ways. The sculpture is uniquely balanced on a small triangular base. Given the height of the piece, it is very dramatic. The perspective and sculpting detail – especially in the faces - is that of a master carver. The dark wood grain is beautiful and the very hard African wood polishes beautifully. This sculpture is well balanced but it should be displayed in a safe place so that it doesn't get bumped. Very hard African wood.
