Description
This is a beautiful black primitive sculpture of a beaked bird with its chick on its back. The simplicity and undefined lines make this sculpture feel abstracted. It seems that the sculptor carved the profile and not the detail of his subject. It has a very primitive feel due to the simplistic eyes; lack of detail on the bodies and an imperfect,natural stone surface. Lovely veining in the stone. Est. 1960 or earlier.
