Description
Robert Roy may be the most talented of contemporary wood sculptors in the Quebecois tradition. He is a master sculptor. This large piece depicts a noble and proud lumberjack with one foot propped up on a stump. The proportions and pose of the lumberjack are natural. The sculpting of the face and touque is exquisite. The detailing on the clothes is incredible including stitching on the shirt. Large sculpture at almost 20”. Likely carved from Butternut. Excellent condition. Contemporary.
